My Desk Setup for 2023 post image

I've already created a video covering my desk setup, if you wish watch that instead click the card link down below. But I wanted to create a blog post to go along with it for those that prefer a quick read for all the links and resources that make up my desk setup. So here you go!

To provide some background, I'm currently a Software Engineer by day and part time creator in the evenings. I spend tons of hours on my desk coding, editing photos or videos and learning new things. So I've put together a desk setup that allows me to be productive in both of these areas.

The Desk

Creating an efficient workspace is pivotal for productivity. I've had the privilege of testing the Ergonofis Sway Desk, which was generously gifted to me. It's a game-changer, with a really slick control interface. Plus, it's got the aesthetics to match its functionality. It's even considerate enough to include an anti-collision system, preventing desk-related mishaps.

Ergonofis also sent over their solid wood monitor riser / desk shelf. It's a pretty known and accepted notion that having your monitor at eye level is the best for your posture. So this desk shelf is a great way to achieve that. It's also a great way to add some style to your desk setup.

Here are some captures of the setup, including the cable management rack, and the desk shelf. I went with the white oak and white color combo.

Monitors and Lighting

A high-quality monitor is a must for my work, and I've chosen the LG 34WN780. Its ergonomic stand offers complete control over screen positioning, allowing me to customize my view. Additionally, I've incorporated the BenQ Screen Bar Halo, a USB-powered lamp that provides consistent and glare-free illumination for my workspace.

Computer Setup

My primary workhorse is the 16-inch MacBook Pro, a reliable and powerful companion. To streamline my connections and reduce cable clutter, I use an Anker USB-C hub. This setup allows me to focus on my work without distractions. For a superb audio experience, I turn to the AirPods Max, which provide exceptional sound quality and help me maintain my productivity.

Audio

Audio quality is crucial to my workflow. I prefer to immerse myself in a world of sound using headphones, primarily the AirPods Max, renowned for their high-quality audio. It's worth noting that I rely on my headphones due to the limited quality of my monitor's built-in speakers.

  • AirPods Max: My trusted headphones for an exceptional audio experience.
  • Apple AirPods Pro: Compact and versatile earbuds suitable for various tasks.
  • Sonos Beam Soundbar: A wall-mounted soundbar that elevates my workspace to a mini theater.

Peripherals

I'm a mechanical keyboard enthusiast, and my current favorite is the Envoie by More Designs. Its unique build, combined with the GMK Dracula keycap set and a Tomorrow-themed set, adds a personal touch to my setup. To navigate efficiently, I rely on the Logitech MX Master III, which offers extra buttons and ergonomic comfort.

Chair and Ergonomics

For enduring comfort during my long work sessions, I've chosen the Herman Miller Aeron chair. This ergonomic masterpiece is fully adjustable, and its lumbar support feature ensures that I maintain a healthy and comfortable posture throughout the day.

Miscellaneous Items

To round out my workspace, I've included various practical items:

Conclusion

That concludes my optimized workspace setup. As I continue to fine-tune my workspace, I'm open to suggestions and recommendations for adding a personal touch to the areas surrounding my desk
